Meet Our Therapists

  • Rachel Liles, LCSW

Virtual NY, NJ, & MA; She/Her

Relationships are often difficult and confusing. I work with those who often feel misunderstood in life, let down by others, and led to believe there is something wrong with them or that they are "too much." Whether this manifests as difficulties in relationships (couples, peers, parenting, families), body image issues, perfectionism, or difficulties sharing your true self -- I can help you help gain insight, improve self-awareness, set boundaries, and communicate better. I will be your partner in the process, identifying problematic patterns of thought and behavior, understanding what's inhibiting you in relationships, and facilitating difficult emotions. My patients would describe me as perceptive, authentic, humorous, and direct.

While trained as a relational psychodynamic psychotherapist, my style draws from a variety of methodologies depending on each client's needs. For over a decade in private practice, I specialize in working with anxiety, eating disorders, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, and trauma.

I also have significant experience and expertise in working with the LGBTQ+ community and provide a non-judgmental space to explore gender and sexuality. Throughout my experience, I have enjoyed working with a diverse group of people, keeping in mind the uniqueness of each individual's experience.

I received my Master's in Social Work from NYU in 2010. I trained with clinicians from Callen-Lorde, Ali Forney Center, Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies, and Psychoanalytic Association of New York (Institute affiliated with NYU School of Medicine).

  • Deanna Fusco, LMSW

    Brooklyn, She/Her

My warmest welcome to you as you consider therapy. My client relationships are very special to me, and if we work together I look forward to learning who you are and exploring your thoughts, feelings, fears and dreams. My therapeutic goals do not involve “fixing” you. I sit with you through suffering, doubt, and insecurity. I celebrate your resilience, growing self-acceptance and milestones. I affirm and validate who you are, trusting your expert insight on yourself. I offer a trusted therapist’s perspective but invite you to feel safe in disagreeing with my interpretation. I place importance on understanding your past as it relates to your present. We visualize your future.

I have been in private practice for more than four years. Besides this, I have worked in academic, labor, outpatient clinic, and forensic settings. A few examples of treatment areas in which I have experience (and in which you are not alone) include grief and loss, occupational burnout, undue influence from groups/organizations, sex and relationships, loneliness, family of origin issues, trauma, and self-esteem.

I hold a BA in History and an MSW from Hunter College. I consider myself primarily a relational psychotherapist who incorporates contemporary psychoanalysis and person-centered techniques. You may not recognize these play out while we work, but rather, simply feel supported, connected, and relieved.

  • Julia Lesh, LMSW

    Manhattan, She/Her

In my practice, I place a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, creating a safe and supportive environment. I believe that humans are inherently social creatures, and that our sense of self is shaped by our interactions with others. With warmth and curiosity, we will explore your feelings, your relationships, your past, and what's happening in the here and now.

I currently specialize in helping teens, adults, and couples improve their relationships and feel more connected with their daily life. I have particular expertise in working with disordered eating, polyamory/non-monogamy, LGBTQIA+ folks, and assisting parents in helping a child explore gender identity. My work is based on relational psychodynamic psychotherapy, but incorporates IFS, DBT, and motivational interviewing. I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Middlebury College and New York University, and I have received post-graduate training from the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis & Psychology.

My style is open, affirming, and challenging. In our work, whatever you're navigating, I will accept you on your terms.

  • Bridge Condron, LMSW

    Manhattan, They/Them

In my work, I love helping my clients nurture deep and compassionate connections with themselves, even the parts of themselves that may feel shameful or that they may have struggled to find kindness towards in the past. In therapy, we can partner to address many things, including exploring gender or sexuality, improving your relationship with substances, finding relief from anxiety, depression, or ADHD symptoms, addressing patterns in intimate relationships, healing past trauma, and much more.

I’m particularly passionate about working with LGBTQ+ people and celebrating queer joy and identity. In a society that is not always physically or emotionally safe for LGBTQ+ people, therapy can be a liberatory place where we honor and support you exactly as you are.

I hold a Masters in Social Work from the University of Washington, I am an Internal Family Systems informed provider, and I utilize Somatic modalities, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing. This means that a session with me will be tailored to your specific needs, and can include growing your awareness of your bodily sensations, thoughts, and emotions, to gain more choices around your reactions to life and life’s stressors.

All parts of you are welcome here. If you think we might be a good fit, please reach out, I’m excited to meet you.

  • Allison Merz, LMSW

    Manhattan, She/Her

Having a partner as you make your way through emotional challenges such as depression, anxiety, and significant life changes can make all the difference. In our work you are not alone. In psychotherapy I partner with clients and provide guidance and support in a safe, empowering, and empathetic environment to explore challenges and promote overall wellness.

As a client-centered therapist trained in a relational psychodynamic approach, I employ several long-term clinical models as well as short-term, evidence-based practices to support your process of discovering what is getting in your way, and to help you develop the skills, mindset, and insight you need to move forward. My style is active, authentic, and collaborative as I work with emotional openness to build a personal and reciprocal connection with clients. I am committed to increasing equity through anti-racist practice and combatting oppressive forces by contextualizing problems within life and cultural experiences.

I currently specialize in helping teens, college-age students, and adults address challenges that are negatively impacting their wellness so they can work toward achieving their personal and professional goals. I am passionate about helping people with depressive disorders, generalized anxiety, post-traumatic stress, difficult life transitions and stressors, interpersonal conflicts, and low self-esteem. I received my Masters of Social Work from New York University after completing a Master’s Degree from Stanford University and BA from Mills College.

  • Lin Chen, LMSW

    Manhattan/NJ, She/Her

I am a bilingual (Mandarin) Therapist who has worked with issues related to acculturation, immigration, trauma and identity confusion. I look forward to going on this utterly difficult and beautiful journey with you. Previously, I had a career in the technology field with Google and consulting, and I integrate this experience with my psychology knowledge to create an analytical, yet compassionate space for my clients. I specialize in working with people from diverse backgrounds in individual psychotherapy, and I have expertise working in depression, anxiety, ADHD, Autism, C-PTSD, and OCD.

To reduce being hijacked by anxiety, depression, and other symptoms, I highlight both resourcing with somatic strategies to feel the safety and comfort in the moment and reprocessing with a psychodynamic approach to explore the whys and hows. I have been trained in EMDR and continue my training at the Gestalt Institute. The balance is important. Together, let's become aware of your body and your mind and follow their pace of healing.

I believe that a caring and authentic therapeutic relationship is an essential foundation. I check in with my clients to learn how they feel in sessions, what is said and unsaid. My clients often feel that I am compassionate, empathetic, and engaging. If you are interested in working with me, it truly would be a pleasure to hear your story.

FAQs

  • Although we do not take health insurance, we are out-of-network providers with all other health insurance plans. If you use an out-of-network insurance plan, you pay the practice directly. We provide you with a statement each month , which you submit the statement to your insurance company for reimbursement. You may want to ask the following questions to your insurance provider:

Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

Do I have a deductible? How much is it and how much has been met?

What percentage of the therapy fee is covered?

How many sessions are covered per year?

  • In therapy, we place an importance of discussing tricky topics — money is one of them. I encourage you to contact us and discuss what you can afford. Our fees range from $100-300. Each clinician has a full fee relative to their experience and a few slots dedicated to sliding scale, and the amount you can pay impacts the availability of other slots. Full-fee slots help us afford our lower fee slots, and the lower the fee, the less we can afford to slide for another slot. Depending on our current caseload, we will assess whether we can find a fee that works for both of us and when we cannot accommodate a fee, we can help direct you to another practitioner that can.

  • You can book an appointment via our website through email; we also receive referrals through Therapy Den, Mental Health Match, Psychology Today, and Zoc Doc.

After contacting us, you will receive an email from the practice to arrange for either a brief phone or paid in-person consultation. If you need a sliding scale, this is the time to let us know. Upon confirmation of appointment and any fee discussion, we will send you a link from Simple Practice to sign a few forms and enter a credit card number to keep on file.

  • In the initial consultation, your chosen therapist will get to know what is bringing you to therapy and listen to any parts of your problem that you feel are important. You will get a feel for what your work together might look like, and see if you feel comfortable with them. A good fit is important in the therapeutic relationship, and if you decide they not the right therapist for you, we happy to provide you with a referral that might better suit your needs.

After the first session, you may have had any variation of thoughts or feelings in reaction to sharing such sensitive information with someone new. I urge you to share these feelings, if possible.

In your second session, the therapist may be more directive while getting to know more about your problem. If you didn't discuss it before, they may want to know about your history around the following: your family, your friends, your childhood, your interests and hobbies, education, employment, medical problems, sexual issues and preferences, traumatic events, and any other details that may seem important to discuss.

After getting your detailed history, we urge you to share whatever comes to mind as important. Whether it be a good or bad event in your week, a dream, a feeling, a goal, or related to something that is happening in the room; it is all relevant. If you don't feel like talking, that can be informative, too.

For a while, the therapist will be listening closely, speaking less in an effort to better understand your issue. However, this does not mean they will be silent. They will give you feedback; help you make connections and gain self-awareness. They will help you understand what you are feeling, and make sense of your life.

  • APPOINTMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS

Each time slot is your dedicated time, and will be held for you each week. Fees are waived for 3 cancellations per 12 month period. Rescheduled appointments will be accommodated when at all possible and remote sessions are available. All cancellations thereafter are charged to your credit card.

Clients who cancel with less than 6 hours notice or who do not show for your scheduled appointment will be billed for the session.

The standard meeting time for psychotherapy is 45 minute weekly sessions. It is up to you, however, to determine the length of time of your sessions. Requests to change the session needs to be discussed with the therapist in order for time to be scheduled in advance.

The full fee of $225 will be due at the end of each session for each client, unless a another arrangement has been discussed with the practice owner. Credit cards will be saved on file for each client. You can choose to use this method of payment for each session, or only for instances where your bill is overdue. Other forms of payment include Venmo, Zelle, or Paypal. Superbills will be sent at the end of the month when required for out-of-network reimbursement, HSA/FSA.

    TELEPHONE ACCESSIBILITY

If you need to contact your therapist between sessions, please leave a message on their voice mail. We are often not immediately available; however, we will attempt to return your call within 24 hours. If a true emergency situation arises, please call 911 or any local emergency room.

    SOCIAL MEDIA AND TELECOMMUNICATION

Due to the importance of your confidentiality and the importance of minimizing dual relationships, we do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any social networking site (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc). We believe that adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can compromise your confidentiality and our respective privacy. It may also blur the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship. If you have questions about this, please bring them up when we meet and we can talk more about it.

    ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION

We cannot ensure the confidentiality of any form of communication through electronic media, including text messages. If you prefer to communicate via email or text messaging for issues regarding scheduling or cancellations, we will do so. You can typically expect a response within 24 hours. As we cannot guarantee immediate response, please do not request assistance for emergencies.

    MINORS

If you are a minor, your parents may be legally entitled to some information about your therapy. Your therapist will discuss with you and your parents what information is appropriate for them to receive and which issues are more appropriately kept confidential.

    TERMINATION

Ending relationships can be difficult. Therefore, it is important to have a termination process in order to achieve some closure. The appropriate length of the termination depends on the length and intensity of the treatment. We may terminate treatment after appropriate discussion with you and a termination process if we determine that the psychotherapy is not being effectively used or if you are in default on payment. We will not terminate the therapeutic relationship without first discussing and exploring the reasons and purpose of terminating. If therapy is terminated for any reason or you request another therapist, we will provide you with a list of qualified psychotherapists to treat you. You may also choose someone on your own or from another referral source.
